Sam Allardyce is yesterday's man... MARTIN SAMUEL
Jurgen Klopp rejected the overtures of West Ham United after handing in his notice at Borussia Dortmund. No matter, it was worth a try. Now on to the next one.

If Rafael Benitez wants to return to English football after leaving Napoli maybe he can be persuaded to take over a project that includes a move to the iconic Olympic Stadium in a year's time. West Ham need a coach of high ambition to underline the size of the venture.

Sam Allardyce isn't that man. He had his chance and did not take it. Allardyce has often talked of the qualities he could bring to an elite club, but the momentum of his season changed on Boxing Day when he left his best players out of the starting line-up at Chelsea, and lost.
The folly of resting key individuals for such an important game over the Christmas period was exposed as West Ham then played two home fixtures, losing to Arsenal and drawing with West Brom.

If West Ham had maintained their form going into the Chelsea game — 31 points from 17 matches — they would now be fifth in the league. Had their form since that day been played out through the season — 12 points from 16 games — they would be bottom.

Allardyce's reputation is that of a man who guarantees survival, but since Christmas West Ham have been playing relegation football. If a new manager is being considered, it is understandable. West Ham must go to the Olympic Stadium with more on their minds than survival.

Seems strange to me how we, the fans, can see what has happened, so can certain areas of the media.. Yet our own fucking deluded manager cant when he is the only one responsible for this NOBODY else..

I have always been cautious around changing a manager and was very much in the keep BFS at the end of last season. I use the mantra better the devil you know to justify this. Well we now know this devil very well and it is time for him to pack up and go.

This season has not been the tale of two halves that some would suggest, I for one have always thought that the results of the early season were papering over the cracks and unfortunately I was right.

BFS has been exposed as lacking ambition, unable to accept that someone else is right (shako signing) and has absolutely no tactical ability whatsoever. Even Zola could close out a lead better than this twat....

I think he has been told he is off at the end of the season and his selections / subs over the past few games have reinforced this.... as for AC wanting him to stay, he must be in the minority and because Sam's style suits the crocked man...

Go Allardyce...... leave us alone, spoilt some other team somewhere else..

It appears Mr Samuel has had enough of Allardyce as much as we all have, good man.

totally agree with this, shows he knows what he's talking about to remember.

I was gutted at the time that Sam rested players for that one after the run we were on, so typical of the man to do that.

Don't change a winning team, keep momentum.

If the walrus ends up at Fulham, they will have to have a team of ball boys outside the ground to prevent balls landing in the River Thames.

Wonder how the league positions would end up if each team had 100million a season to spend on wages...???

And still...The Fat Neanderthal Football manager still finds excuses for the Post-December Fiasco that this season has become...

It's obviously his fault...reverting to his long ball...Big Man up front & Nolan following through...

It didn't work...as most of us knew at the time...

Get him out...we need a modern successful manager for the future...Obviously...

BFS can go to QPR...Sunderland...Fulham etc...etc...

It is. But journo's can only report on what they see. We wanted a better style of exciting, attacking football. We got it.

Allardyce soon put an end to it when we got to high and Nolan and Carroll were delcared fit again. Now on the run we are on Samuel's is reporting as he now see's it.

People are allowed to change their minds, mate.

There are plenty of reasons to want BFS out without talking absolute horseshit.

We play year 38 games each year, the luck pretty much evens out and we'll finish even where we deserve to.

Claiming we were stayed up due to good luck is just as ridiculous as if BFS were to claim we missed out on Europe due to bad luck.

I like Martin Samuel, but there's no real revelations here, he's just stating the obvious.

true enough bill but we are entering top six monetary territory in the prem

we can look higher and expect more, hopefully

we pay this prick £60k a week, 13th highest on the planet. we can now afford £80-90k on a benitez/klopp/bielsa/bilic type manager

Re: Sam Allardyce is yesterday's man... MARTIN SAMUEL
yer fair enough, i think allardyce is a realist when it comes to wage bills and league position. don't agree with his tactics and entertainment value.

by March the squad size becomes the issue that sorts the league table out. clubs of our expenditure only have 13-15 decent players and when they're injured or suspended we struggle.

chelsea and man city didn't improve by good managers just trebling their wage bills. that's what benitez etc would ask for.
